Behind the camera
About James
I’m a photographer based in West Sussex. I’m drawn to wildlife, landscapes, close-up work and cars—subjects that each ask for a different kind of patience.
Photography sits alongside the rest of life rather than above it. I use a Canon EOS R7, spend too long in Lightroom, and am usually happier returning with one photograph I care about than a card full of near misses.
Approach
I prefer natural light, honest colour and pictures that retain a sense of where they were made. The aim is careful observation, not to make every place look more dramatic than it felt.
Current equipment
Canon EOS R7 with a small set of lenses for wildlife, macro, landscapes and motorsport. The camera matters less than being ready when the light, weather and subject finally come together.
